Rubber O rings are The most common and simplest types of seal with excellent sealing properties and durability. Used in engines and gearboxes, also found in anything from shower heads to an aircraft, garden hoses and pumps etc., They can be used as face to face gasket style seals or as shaft seals and allow both rotary and linear movement. They have a 70 Shore hardness and an operating temperature range of -30°C to +120°C. Highly resistant to many chemicals, petroleum, diesel, LPG etc.
Most rubber o rings are made from Nitrile Rubber also known as Acrylonitrile-Butadiene (NBR) and Buna N. The acrylonitrile content varies between 18 and 50% and influences the physical properties of the finished product. A higher Nitrile content enhances resistance to fuel and oil but elasticity and resistance to compression set is adversely affected.
