For marine applications and especially on inland waterways craft it is a requirement of the boat safety scheme (BSS) that the exhaust pipe fitted in an exposed position must be insulated to guard against accidental scalding .

For this reason this exhaust clamp bracket has been designed with this in mind. It can be adjusted to accommodate the silicone coated exhaust lagging.
